  • Gift messages - Custom messages when gifting points to other members

2. Information Collected Automatically

Usage Data

We automatically collect:

  • Device information - Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers
  • App usage - Features used, screens visited, time spent in app
  • Transaction data - Points earned, spent, and gifted (this is core app functionality)
  • Performance data - Crash reports, errors, and performance metrics

Technical Data

  • IP address - For authentication and security purposes
  • Log data - API requests, timestamps, and response codes
  • Authentication tokens - Temporary tokens for maintaining your logged-in session

3. Permissions We Request

Camera Permission (Optional)

  • Purpose: Attach photo proof to task completions
  • Required: No - You can complete tasks without photos
  • Usage: Photos are only captured when you choose to add proof

Calendar Permission (Optional)

  • Purpose: Add scheduled rewards to your device calendar
  • Required: No - Rewards work without calendar integration
  • Usage: Only accesses your calendar when you choose to add a reward event

Push Notification Permission (Optional)

  • Purpose: Notify you of approvals, completions, and household activity
  • Required: No - App works without notifications
  • Usage: Sends notifications for approval requests and updates

Photos Library (Optional)

  • Purpose: Select existing photos as proof for tasks or reward images
  • Required: No - You can use camera or no photo
  • Usage: Only when you choose to upload an existing photo

Within Your Household

Information is shared with other members of your household(s):

  • Your display name and nickname
  • Your point balance (visible to all household members)
  • Tasks you complete (with optional photos and notes)
  • Rewards you create or purchase
  • Point transactions (giving and receiving gifts)
  • Your activity in the household feed
Important: Only share household invite codes with people you trust. Household members can see each other's activity and balances.

With Service Providers

We share data with trusted third-party services that help us operate:

  • AWS (Amazon Web Services) - Cloud hosting, database, authentication, and file storage
  • Expo - App delivery, updates, and crash reporting

These service providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and only use it for providing their services to us.

Legal Requirements

  • Camera access - Revoke in device Settings → Brownie Points → Camera
  • Calendar access - Revoke in device Settings → Brownie Points → Calendars
  • Photo library - Revoke in device Settings → Brownie Points → Photos
  • Notifications - Revoke in device Settings → Brownie Points → Notifications

GDPR Rights (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to:

  • Backup storage: AWS EU-West-1 (Ireland)
  • Authentication: AWS Cognito in EU regions

If you use the app from outside the European Economic Area (EEA), your data may be transferred to and processed in the EEA. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
